The Winners: Mike Ruospo and Susan Gold
Mike Ruospo has won the nineteenth edition of the Boston Buildup
Series. His total of 6058 Purdy points was 58 points better than
Randy Brophy (6000) and 71 points better than Charles Augur (5987).
Brophy and Augur are faster runners, but they ran only 3 of the 4
races and could not open up enough of a lead in those races to offset
Ruospo's perfect attendance.
Susan Gold (4419) was the women's champion in similar fashion.
Running only 3 of the 4 races, Dede Beck (4319) finished only 100
points behind Gold. Also running just 3 races, Janel Willette (4221)
was another 99 points behind, in third place.
Overall winners are not eligible for division titles. Thus, the

In the Series scoring, Purdy Points are awarded for each race: the
points reflect the runner's pace per minute, weighted for the number
of miles in that race. Then, the runner's best race is multiplied by
4, his next best race by 3, next by 2 and his worst race remains
unmultiplied.
